WASHINGTON (TCD) -- A 23-year-old rookie running back for the Washington Commanders was reportedly shot multiple times during an attempted carjacking over the weekend.
According to a statement, on Sunday, Aug. 28, at 12:08 a.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the 1300 block of H Street Northeast for reports of a shooting and found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was reportedly transported to a nearby hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police also identified as white Toyota Camry as a vehicle of interest.
NBC Washington reports the victim, Brian Robinson Jr., was hit twice during a struggle with two suspects. Robinson reportedly tried to wrestle a gun away from one teen suspect while the other one allegedly shot him. The suspects reportedly tried to rob him and take Robinson’s Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat.
Chief of Police Robert Contee reportedly said the suspects "may be between 15 and 17 years of age."
On Sunday evening, the Washington Commanders released a statement saying, "We have been made aware that Brian Robinson, Jr. was the victim of an attempted armed robbery or carjacking in Washington, D.C.
