KEENE, Texas (TCD) -- A 12-year-old boy is accused of shooting and killing a Fort Worth-area Sonic employee during an altercation with a 20-year-old man.
According to a statement, on Saturday, May 13, at 9:40 p.m., Keene Police received calls about a shooting at the fast-food restaurant on the 300 block of South Old Betsy Road. Witnesses pointed police to the direction of a male on the ground in the parking lot suffering from several gunshot wounds. Medical personnel arrived on the scene and transported him via CareFlite Air to Harris Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Keene Police identified the victim as 32-year-old Matthew Davis.
Police believe 20-year-old Angel Gomez went to Sonic with other people in his car and "began acting disorderly." Davis reportedly confronted Gomez, and the two men got into a physical fight. According to Keene Police, a 12-year-old inside the vehicle shot at Davis, fatally striking him.
The juvenile and Gomez reportedly fled the scene following the shooting, but Gomez returned and was taken into custody. Police later located the juvenile in Rio Vista and retrieved "several firearms."
Both the juvenile and Gomez are being charged with murder.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in an arrest report that the juvenile is 12 years old and that Davis was shot in the back.
