CHINA GROVE, N.C. (TCD) -- A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged after allegedly kidnapping a woman with the intention of killing and mutilating her.
According to a news release posted by the Rowan County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a woman who had been attacked on Feb. 15. The victim reportedly agreed to meet up with Hunter Nance earlier in the day, and they went to his home.
Inside the home, Nance allegedly attacked the victim with a knife, but she was able to "fight him off and ran from the scene with minor injuries."
Nance was arrested and booked into the Rowan County Jail for false imprisonment, first-degree kidnapping, and assault with a deadly weapon, records show. HIs bond was set at $600,000.
According to the Sheriff's Office, when interviewed, Nance said he "planned to kill the female for the thrill."
Nance told authorities he chose the victim randomly and planned to mutilate her and leave her body out for other people to see, WBTV-TV reports. He also reportedly told deputies he wanted to kill others, and he was interested in cannibalism.
