LAS VEGAS (TCD) -- Police arrested a 50-year-old man last week for allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend and living with her body in his home for several days.
On Monday, Aug. 14, at 2:30 p.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers went to the 1600 block of Golden Arrow Drive for reports of an injured person and found a female victim deceased inside the residence as well as her boyfriend, James Gina III. Police identified Gina as the suspect and arrested him on a charge of murder involving a deadly weapon.
According to the police report cited by KLAS-TV, police were notified about the incident when a man walked into a command center and said he was "fearful that if anyone knew he was at the police station, he would be killed."
The man reportedly told police he was present when Gina and the victim, Celina Rebholz, got into a fight, and he was aware Gina owned multiple guns and used meth. During the argument, Rebholz allegedly called Gina a pedophile, and Gina threatened to shoot her. Gina’s mother reportedly attempted to stop the fight, but he said he would "also shoot her if she didn’t go away."
This fight reportedly occurred Aug. 12.
The witness and Gina’s mother reportedly gambled for about three hours, and when they got back, Gina was "frantic and distraught." The man said he saw Rebholz on the floor of a bedroom with a bullet wound in her chest. Rebholz was reportedly still alive and "making gurgling noises," but Gina refused to call an ambulance.
The man went to police but told Gina he "did not know what to do and could not deal with the situation." Then, Gina allegedly texted the witness and said Rebholz was "gone, she’s dead."
KLAS reports the witness deleted the text because he "did not want anything related to the murder on his phone."
Gina allegedly put Rebholz’s body in his attic. He asked the witness to take him and his mother to the airport because he wanted to rent a car. Gina allegedly commented Rebholz’s body was "beginning to emit a foul odor," so he did not want to move her body to his own car.
When police went to the home Aug. 12, Rebholz’s body was in Gina’s bedroom covered with a blanket.
According to KLAS, Rebholz was shot 12 times.
Gina’s mother, however, allegedly told police her son was "fiddling with his gun" when it went off and struck Rebholz.
Clark County Jail records show he’s being held without bail.
