PONTIAC, Mich. (TCD) -- A jury found a 19-year-old woman guilty last week of killing her father after she poured a potent chemical cleaner on his body as he slept.
According to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, on Oct. 1, 2021, Megan Joyce Imirowicz poured lye on her father, Konrad Imirowicz, as he slept and caused him to suffer chemical burns all over his body. Konrad was hospitalized and lived for another five months following the attack.
Megan was 18 years old at the time.
He died March 6, 2022, after being taken off life support. The Prosecutor’s Office said he died from "chemical burns and complications sustained when a chemical was thrown on him."
WDIV-TV reports Megan Imirowicz combined the lye with water, which caused the fatal burns. She reportedly left after the attack and a neighbor ultimately discovered her father injured on the couch. She was later apprehended by Michigan State Police and arrested.
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said, "This is a tragic case. The defendant lashed out in anger and wound up killing her father."
Megan Imirowicz faces up to life in prison and will be sentenced July 25.
