Fugitive rapper Foogiano caught after melting off ankle monitor 3 months ago, U.S. Marshals say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (TCD) --
Fugitive Georgia rapper Foogiano was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Memphis on Thursday, March 11. Foogiano, whose real name is Kwame Khalil Brown, allegedly melted off his court-ordered ankle monitor three months ago and disappeared.
Brown, 27, was wanted in Greene County, Georgia, where he was released on $50,000 cash bond in December 2020 for a probation violation.
He was arrested at a private residence in Memphis last week, according to the U.S. Marshal’s Office. Brown was to be transported to Georgia pending an extradition order.
Brown appeared in Greene County Superior Court on Dec. 14 for a probation violation charge that stemmed from a December arrest in Barrow County, Ga., where he was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, according to the Athens Banner-Herald.
A judge ordered Brown to stay in Georgia and wear the ankle monitor, according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. The monitor was later found melted off and dumped on a roadside in Barrow County, the Banner-Herald reports.
Brown is a 27-year-old Atlanta-based rapper goes by the name Foogiano and is represented by Gucci Mane, according to the Associated Press.
