SEATTLE (TCD) -- A suspect was arrested this week after he allegedly opened fire on a car, killing a pregnant woman and her unborn child and injuring her husband.
On Tuesday, June 13, at approximately 11 a.m., Seattle Police received several calls about shots fired at an occupied car stopped near 4th Avenue and Lenora Street. Officers arrived on scene and rendered aid to the two adult victims suffering from gunshot wounds until medics arrived. They were transported to Harborview Medical Center, where a pregnant 34-year-old woman and her child died. The 37-year-old man sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
KCPQ-TV reports the female victim was identified as Eina Kwon, who was 32 weeks pregnant. Court documents cited by KCPQ say she was shot four times. Her child reportedly survived briefly, then died.
Seattle Police reportedly detained a male suspect, who KCPQ identified as Cordell Goosby, near the scene who allegedly said, "I did it, I did it," as officers took him into custody.
According to KOMO-TV, Kwon was reportedly a random target, and she and Goosby did not speak before he allegedly opened fire. The couple was reportedly en route to work when the shooting occurred.
KOMO reports Goosby refused to go to court for his bail hearing Wednesday and another hearing Thursday.
