CORBIN, Ky. (TCD) --
A Kentucky man allegedly tried to sell a child at a gas station on Sunday.
Kentucky State Police troopers responded to a report of a male individual attempting to sell an African-American child for $2,500 at a Speedy Mart in Corbin on August 16.
A witness heard the suspect offer to sell the 4-year-old boy to two different people, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Troopers followed up on a vehicle description and a license plate number and located the car at an address on Spider Creek Road in Corbin, police said. The child was found at the residence, where the child's mother Gertrude Henson lives. Troopers also found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Police said Gertrude Henson and Harry Day admitted to recent use of methamphetamine earlier the same day.
Day was charged with promoting human trafficking a child and DUI. Henson was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Day pleaded guilty at a hearing Monday and was sentenced to a year in jail, according to court records.
