COHASSET, Mass. (TCD) -- The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office formally charged Brian Walshe with murder this week in connection with the death of his wife, who has not been seen since January.
Mass Live reports a grand jury indicted Walshe on Thursday, March 30, on charges of murder, misleading a police investigation/obstruction of justice, and improper conveyance of a human body for allegedly killing and dismembering his wife, Ana Walshe.
Ana Walshe was last seen around midnight on Jan. 1, and she was reported missing three days later on Jan. 4. Ana reportedly worked in Washington, D.C., and was supposed to travel there, though she never made it. Cohasset Police Chief William Quigley said in a press conference following Ana's disappearance that she never made it to Logan Airport to fly to Washington, and she never boarded her flight, either.
Cohasset Police and Massachusetts State Police arrested Brian Walshe on Jan. 8. Since then, Norfolk County prosecutors alleged Brian Walshe purchased several hundreds of dollars' worth of cleaning supplies Jan 2, including a tarp, mops, buckets, and a Tyvek suit. Boston.com reports investigators discovered a bag of bloody clothing, a hacksaw, and a hatchet at a transfer station in Peabody as well as a bloody knife in Brian Walshe’s basement.
On Jan. 1, the day Ana Walshe reportedly went missing, Brian Walshe allegedly used his son’s iPad to look up topics such as "How long before a body starts to smell," "10 ways to dispose of a dead body if you really need to," "Can you throw away body parts," "Dismemberment and the best ways to dispose of a body," and other similar searches.
Officials allege Brian Walshe dismembered his wife’s body and disposed of the body parts in different dumpsters.
