Arizona woman accused of killing 93-year-old roommate in 'violent death'

CORDES LAKES, Ariz. (TCD) -- A 59-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder after deputies discovered a 93-year-old man deceased while conducting a welfare check.
On Friday, Feb. 16, at around 10 p.m., Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to a residence on Rodeo Drive after receiving a request for a welfare check on Carl Miller. One of the man’s acquaintances reportedly called the sheriff’s office because they had not spoken to or seen Miller in several days.
Deputies went to Miller’s house and encountered his roommate, Bridget Nelson. She allegedly told deputies Miller went out of town, but she did not know where. The deputy spoke with the person who called, but the caller said Miller’s truck was still in the driveway, and the vehicle was reportedly "inoperable."
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies went back Miller’s house to speak with Nelson, but she did not answer the door. Deputies reportedly looked through a window and noticed a "man lying on the ground motionless." The deputies demanded Nelson to exit the house, and she complied after multiple orders.
Yavapai County detectives and other crime scene investigators went into the home and found Miller, who had reportedly been dead for "at least a day." Investigators determined based on evidence that Miller "had died a violent death with his wounds indicating foul play."
Nelson was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail for first-degree murder.
