65-year-old man arrested for allegedly beating roommate with a cane

MERCED, Calif. (TCD) -- A 65-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly attacking his roommate.
According to the Merced Police Department, on Wednesday, June 15, at 8:14 p.m., officers went to a residence on the 100 block of West San Clemente Drive for a report of a disturbance. When they arrived, they reportedly found a 44-year-old victim who told police his roommate, Richard Gluhm, "struck him over the head with a walking cane during an argument."
Police say the man suffered an injury to the top of his head that was "consistent with a walking cane," but the wounds are not considered serious. Gluhm was arrested and taken to the Merced County Jail.
Records show he was booked on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon or force likely to produce great bodily harm. His bond is set at $30,000.
