PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (TCD) -- A 20-year-old man from Washington, D.C., was arrested after he allegedly opened fire at a home, injuring four minors and killing a 3-year-old girl.
According to Prince William County Police, on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at approximately 10:51 a.m., dispatch received a call from someone saying they had been shot, and several other people called around the same time to report a shooting in the area.
An officer from the Dumfries Police Department went to the scene and found a victim outside a residence on the 17900 block of Milroy Drive. Prince William County Police officers went to the scene and discovered four additional victims in the basement.
One of the victims, the 3-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the other four victims, who range in age from 14 to 17 years old, were taken to nearby hospitals with "serious, life-threatening injuries."
Police reportedly "quickly developed" Kenyatta Oglesby as their person of interest and found him at a nearby business. He was detained without incident but then allegedly "became uncooperative with investigators as to what led up to the shooting."
Officers reportedly located two firearms during the investigation.
According to the statement, Oglesby was staying at the Milroy Drive residence and was dating one of the victims. Police allege Oglesby shot his 17-year-old girlfriend outside the house during an altercation, then four other victims.
A 13-year-old boy was reportedly in the home at the time but was not injured.
The victims' names were not released, but Prince William County Police identified the injured victims, who are all siblings, as a 17-year-old female, 16-year-old female, 14-year-old female, and 14-year-old male.
