PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. (TCD) -- A 22-year-old man faces murder charges after he allegedly ran a man over in the drive-thru line at Jack in the Box in what prosecutors are saying could have been a case of mistaken identity.
According to a statement, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a vehicle and pedestrian collision at the fast-food restaurant located at 20505 Mountain Highway E. Multiple people reportedly called 911 about the incident and "advised this appeared to be intentional as the man was run over several times."
Central Pierce Fire officials and deputies from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the Jack in the Box to render aid, but the 68-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect reportedly fled the scene in a white 2007 Chrysler Pacifica.
On March 1, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said they located the vehicle and the suspect. According to KOMO-TV, the suspect was identified as Christian Dressel and the victim is David Brown.
KCPQ-TV reports Brown was run over three times. According to court documents cited by KCPQ, Dressel allegedly got in the drive-thru lane right behind Brown and his wife Sheri and hit their car three times.
Brown and his wife reportedly got out of the car and Brown went over to Dressel, who started yelling at Sheri. She reportedly noticed her husband was under Dressel’s car.
Dressel allegedly yelled to Sheri, "Tell your f---ing boyfriend to stay away from my girl."
Sgt. Darren Moss said, "That’s when the driver turned his wheels and ran over the victim. At that point — it was one thing to run him over — but he decided to stop and reverse over him again before taking off."
KCPQ reports investigators suspect Dressel followed Brown’s car because he saw a similar vehicle in front of his girlfriend’s house.
According to KOMO, David and Sheri Brown have been in a relationship since high school.
