PONTIAC, Mich. (TCN) -- A man faces charges after allegedly killing his neighbor and sexually assaulting the victim's wife and daughter in their home this week.
According to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, on the morning of Sept. 18, 50-year-old Timothy Legard allegedly met the male victim outside his home as his wife was helping their daughter get ready for school. Authorities allege Legard fatally stabbed the male victim and entered the residence, where he sexually assaulted the victim's wife and daughter.
Prosecutors said the wife and daughter escaped and went to a neighbor's home to call for help. Responding officers located the male victim in the driveway with a fatal stab wound to the chest. Deputies found Legard walking in the area and took him into custody.
On Friday, Sept. 20, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald charged Legard with first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, second-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of assault with intent to commit penetration, and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
McDonald called it "an absolutely brutal and horrific attack on a family."
Legard remains held at the Oakland County Jail pending his arraignment. If convicted of first-degree murder, Legard faces life in prison without parole.
