RUSSELLVILLE, Ala. (TCD) -- A 53-year-old man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly acted inappropriately with a child in his family.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, some of Frederick Montanye's family members confronted him about allegedly having sexual contact with a toddler relative. He reportedly admitted to it and apologized to his family. The toddler was taken to a local hospital for examination, and the Franklin County Department of Human Resources got involved in the investigation.
On Sept. 25, deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff's Office went to a tent Montanye lives in to speak with him, but he reportedly fled. Deputies, however, caught up with him and Tased him.
One deputy sustained minor injuries during the apprehension, according to the statement.
Montanye was arrested on charges of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old, resisting arrest, and attempting to elude. Franklin County Jail records show his bond is set at $50,000.
In August, Montanye was released from prison in Florida, though he has served time behind bars several times for charges including indecent assault on a child under 16, sexual battery, failing to register as a sex offender, and more.
