LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (WDAF) -- The discovery of the bodies of two boys led to an AMBER Alert in Kansas on Saturday before two abducted girls were found and the suspect was arrested in far western Oklahoma.
On Saturday at about 1:15 p.m., a family member called police to a house on Hillside Rd., where the boys, ages 12 and 14, were found shot to death. The AMBER Alert was then issued for the girls.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said at about 7 p.m., a truck driver spotted Donny Jackson's car on an interstate and reported it to police.
The girls, ages 3 and 7, were found near Erick, Oklahoma, and 40-year-old Jackson was arrested Saturday night. The girls were reportedly unharmed. Jackson was held in custody of the Beckham County Sheriff's Office, about seven hours away from where the investigation began.
Donny Jackson is a person of interest in the homicides, though the Leavenworth County District Attorney did not announce charges.
Donny Jackson was identified as the girls' father, the Kansas City Star reports, and according to court records, Donny Jackson is in the middle of divorce proceedings with Tara Jackson, the boys' mother.
