MONROE COUNTY, Pa. (TCD) -- A newly unsealed search warrant dated from December shows what items FBI agents found and seized from the University of Idaho stabbing suspect’s home.
The document shows troopers from the Pennsylvania State Police and FBI agents executed the search warrant at Bryan Kohberger’s parents' residence on Lamsden Drive, which was described as a "single family residence with white siding, tan foundation, and dark-colored shutters."
Officials searched the home Dec. 30, 2022, and collected several items, including one silver flashlight, four "medical style gloves," a white Arizona Jean Co. T-shirt, a Champion USA black sweatshirt, a pair of black and white size 13 Nike shoes, a pair of black Under Armour socks, black Under Armour shorts, black Under Armour boxers, and a buccal swab, which retrieves a DNA sample from inside the mouth and cheeks.
Kohberger, a Ph.D. candidate studying criminology at Washington State University, was arrested Dec. 30 for allegedly stabbing and killing Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin in the early hours of Nov. 13. The four victims were found dead in the home Goncalves, Mogen, and Kernodle lived in with two other roommates on King Road in Moscow, Idaho.
In January, officials published Kohberger’s arrest affidavit, which revealed details about evidence found inside the home and accounts from the victims’ roommates.
According to the affidavit, Kernodle and her boyfriend, Chapin, were found dead in her room, and Kernodle’s body was reportedly on the floor.
Mogen and Goncalves were killed in Goncalves' bed and suffered "visible stab wounds." Investigators found a knife sheath near Mogen’s body that had Ka-Bar" written on it and a stamp of the United States Marine Corps insignia. The Idaho state lab found a single trace of male DNA on the sheath’s button.
One of the surviving roommates woke up Nov. 13 at approximately 4 a.m. and allegedly heard someone in the house, most likely Goncalves, say, "There’s someone here."
Later, the roommate reportedly opened the door and heard "what she thought was crying coming from Kernodle’s room."
A man’s voice allegedly said, "It’s OK, I’m going to help you."
The affidavit says a security camera just northwest of the home "picked up distorted audio of what sounded like voices or a whimper followed by a loud thud."
Goncalves' dog started barking around the same time.
The roommate opened her door again and allegedly saw a man dressed in all black walk past her and out the back door. Investigators also found a shoe print, most likely from a pair of Vans, outside the roommate’s room.
Additionally, surveillance footage allegedly showed a white Hyundai Elantra — similar to the one investigators were looking for during the investigation — drive past the house several times in the hours before and after Kernodle, Chapin, Goncalves, and Mogen were killed.
Several days after the killings, Kohberger registered his vehicle in Washington. It previously had Pennsylvania plates.
On Feb. 24, University of Idaho president Scott Green said in a statement to students that the school is working to create a garden as a memorial for the victims and it will be used as "a place of remembrance of other students we have lost and a place of healing for those left behind."
Additionally, the school will demolish the house on King Street where the killings took place.
Green wrote, "This is a healing step and removes the physical structure where the crime that shook our community was committed. Demolition also removes efforts to further sensationalize the crime scene."
According to CBS News, Kohberger’s next court date is scheduled for June 26.
