AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (TCD) -- An 18-year-old man was arrested this week over a year after he allegedly kidnapped a girl while she slept and locked her in a shed.
Aiken County Jail records show the Aiken County Sheriff's Office took Thomas Chase into custody Saturday, Feb. 25, on a charge of criminal sexual conduct with a minor between 11 to 14 years of age.
According to the incident report cited by the Aiken Standard, the juvenile victim allegedly told officials Chase kidnapped her from her bedroom May 14, 2021. He allegedly told her he would "shoot up" her home, so she left with him through her window. Chase reportedly took her to a storage shed, where he allegedly offered her narcotics. She refused, and he supposedly did not let her have any food or water.
The Aiken Standard reports Chase allegedly punched the girl twice in her legs, but did not harm her on May 15. The girl reportedly left the shed the next morning and went home.
Deputies said in the report the victim believes she was sexually assaulted while sleeping.
Chase's bond is set at $20,000.
