MARION, Ind. (TCD) -- A 37-year-old man allegedly attacked three people with a "long sword" at a residence during an altercation, killing two and injuring the other.
In an initial statement, the Marion Police Department said officers went to 223 W. 1st St. on Feb. 6 at 6:41 p.m. because a man was "yelling for the police." Police confirmed two adults died from their injuries and the third was transported to a hospital for treatment. Officers arrested Johnathon Lewis Dischner at the scene.
In a Feb. 7 update, Marion Police said the alleged attack occurred at a "sleeping room house" with nine units in it. Thirty-four-year-old Michael Sandlin and 63-year-old Dennis Johnson passed away during the fight, while 65-year-old Jocelyn Dube "suffered multiple lacerations." She is recovering at a hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Johnson was reportedly staying in Room 7 in the house while Johnson was in Room 9.
Dischner reportedly did not speak with detectives when he was taken into custody, so police remain unsure of his motive. He was booked into Grant County Jail on two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. According to jail records, he is being held without bond.
