ALBION, N.Y. -- (WHAM) -- A teenage boy is facing attempted murder and assault charges after police said he tried to kill his grandmother Saturday night.
According to Orleans County Sheriff's deputies, 17-year-old Brandon Foster went to his grandmother's home on Oak Orchard Road, climbed up a chair behind the house and forced a window open.
Investigators said Foster then went into his grandmother's bedroom and attacked her with a knife as she slept in bed. The grandmother then fought back, at which time Foster allegedly put her in a chokehold. She broke free and confronted him about what he was doing.
Foster then stole $23 and his grandmother's cell phone before jumping out of a different window and running from the home.
The grandmother, who was bleeding profusely, left her home and drove to a hospital in Medina where she was taken to the Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight. She is in serious but stable condition.
Orleans County Sheriff's deputies and Albion Police searched alongside State Police and the Niagara County Sheriff's Bloodhound and the Genesee County Sheriff's Office K9 units. Eventually Foster was found and taken into custody in the bushes behind a Burger King restaurant.
