MADISON COUNTY, N.C. (TCD) -- Two males and a female were arrested over the weekend for allegedly kidnapping and torturing a person by tying them up with barbed wire, hitting, and cutting them all over their body.
According to Madison County Sheriff Buddy Harwood, on Feb. 19, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a resident who reported an "unknown individual" went to their home and said they had been kidnapped. Deputies went to the residence in East Fork and found the victim suffering from lacerations to their face, arms, and body, as well as "multiple cross symbols that had been carved onto the victim’s face and body."
Deputies searched the area and pinpointed the residence where the captivity allegedly occurred and found Patrick Banks, Nicole Sawyer, and James Angel. Banks reportedly had a warrant for cutting off his probation electronic monitoring device, while Angel was wanted for larceny and possession of marijuana from a different county.
Harwood said in the statement deputies executed a search warrant at the property and "were able to determine that the victim had been forcibly imprisoned in a basement of the residence."
According to Harwood, the victim’s hands, feet, and chest were all tied with barbwire, and their mouth had been taped shut. Their chest was reportedly "tied to a beam of the residence." The victim had also reportedly been punched and kicked in the head, hit in the head with firearms and a crowbar, and "sliced by multiple knives causing numerous lacerations to the victim’s face and hands."
Deputies arrested the three residents in the home on multiple charges. Banks was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury with intent to kill, first-degree kidnapping, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Angel and Sawyer were booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury with intent to kill, first-degree kidnapping, and possession of a weapon of mass destruction.
