IRVINE, Calif. (TCD) -- A 45-year-old dermatologist stands accused of poisoning her husband of 10 years.
According to a news release from the Irvine Police Department, on Thursday, Aug. 4, a man told authorities he believed he was being poisoned by his wife, Yue Yu. Over the course of a month, the victim reportedly fell ill and became suspicious of his wife.
Police said the victim was able to capture video evidence "supporting his suspicion and turned it over to police."
Yu, who also goes by Emily, had allegedly been poisoning her husband without his knowledge for an unknown amount of time, KTLA-TV reports.
The victim was reportedly able to capture Yu pouring a drain cleaner into her husband’s beverage on July 11. The victim allegedly took a sip from the cup and exited the kitchen.
According to police, Yu was interviewed, and a search warrant was executed at the home she shares with the victim. Yu was arrested and booked into Orange County Jail on Aug. 4, records show. She was reportedly released the next day after posting bond.
The victim is expected to recover after enduring significant internal injuries from the alleged poisoning, according to police.
The victim and suspect reportedly have two children together. In addition to the alleged poisoning, a domestic violence restraining order was filed against Yu, KTLA reports. Yu and Yu’s mother had allegedly physically, verbally, and emotionally abused the children.
