DALLAS (TCD) -- A Texas store clerk was arrested for murder early Thursday morning after police say he shot at two shoplifters, killing one.
Delon Johson, 23, called Dallas Police just before 11 p.m. Wednesday from a 7-Eleven gas station to report he had shot at two men, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
Officers responded to the 7-Eleven located on the 400 block of North Zang Blvd. at about 11 p.m., Dallas Police said.
Two men had reportedly gone into the store and allegedly stole two 12-packs of beer each, the Dallas Morning News reports. Johnson, the clerk working at the store, followed them outside to their vehicle, then allegedly fired five shots at them as they got away.
One of the shoplifting suspects was found badly wounded in a pickup truck about a mile away, KDFW-TV reports.
The Dallas Morning News reports he was struck in the neck. He was hospitalized, where he was pronounced dead.
The other suspect remained at large Thursday, KDFW reports.
The truck had been hit by several bullets.
Delon Johnson was arrested and charged with murder. Johnson was held in the Dallas County Jail.
