THE BRONX, N.Y. (TCD) -- A worker at a sanitation plant in New York City reportedly discovered a severed leg as it passed on a conveyer belt at a local sanitation plant.
NYPD officials confirmed to WPIX-TV that the leg, which was found Wednesday, Aug. 31, was cut from the knee down. WABC-TV reports the body part was found at a water pollution plant within the Department of Environmental Protection in the Bronx.
Video provided by WABC shows several NYPD cars and investigators at the scene.
According to NBC New York, the Medical Examiner’s Office sent officials to investigate, and the office will determine whether the leg belongs to a child.
One day after the discovery, officials reportedly found a second leg in the early hours of Thursday morning. NBC New York reports police believe there could be a link between the two discoveries and are continuing the investigation.
WABC says the remains are reportedly those of a young child or newborn.
