N.C. parents arrested on suspicion of child abuse after 5-year-old girl is found dead

SEAGROVE, N.C. (TCD) -- Deputies arrested a couple this week in connection with the death of their 5-year-old daughter.
According to a news release from the Randolph County Sheriff's Office, on Monday, July 24, deputies performed a welfare check at Needhams Trail and found a 5-year-old girl deceased.
The Randolph County Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene, located evidence, and identified the child's parents, 32-year-old Christina Myers and 30-year-old Billy Myers, as the primary suspects.
Deputies arrested the couple and booked them into the Randolph County Detention Center on a charge of felony child abuse. They each remain held on a $250,000 secured bond and are scheduled to appear in court on July 25.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office.
