Town board member, wife, and teen stepson found fatally shot in Vermont home

PAWLET, Vt. (TCN) -- State police are investigating a triple homicide after a married couple and a teen were found shot to death inside their home over the weekend.

According to Vermont State Police, on Sunday, Sept. 15, troopers got a call about a "suspicious person," who, according to WCAX-TV, "had some blood on them." That person was detained and brought in for questioning. The Bennington Banner reports the "suspicious person" is a relative of the victims and was reportedly waiting for police at a nearby school.

State Police said they received information that led them to a home on Vermont Route 33, where they found the three victims. Investigators determined the deaths were "considered suspicious."

In an update, state police identified the victims as 46-year-old Brian Crossman Sr., his wife, 41-year-old Erica Pawlusiak Crossman, and her son, 13-year-old Colin Taft. Brian Crossman died from gunshot wounds to his head and torso. Erica Crossman was fatally shot in the head, and Taft died from multiple gunshot wounds. The medical examiner ruled the three deaths homicides.

WCAX reports investigators believe the family of three was killed on Saturday, Sept. 14.

According to the Bennington Banner, Brian and Erica Crossman wed in June. Brian Crossman served as the liaison to buildings and development and the liaison to town highway development on the Pawlet Select Board.
