LAS VEGAS (TCD) -- Actor Nathan Chasing Horse was arrested this week at his home in North Las Vegas following a lengthy investigation into allegations of sexual assault and sex trafficking.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police announced they arrested Chasing Horse Jan. 31 at 3:53 p.m. on charges of sexual assault of a child less than 16 years old, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sexual assault of an adult, and child abuse/neglect.
According to court documents obtained by The Associated Press, 46-year-old Chasing Horse, who is best known for starring in the film "Dances with Wolves," allegedly sexually assaulted young girls in several different states, including South Dakota, Montana, and Nevada. He reportedly had five wives and allegedly taught them how to use firearms to shoot at police in case he ever got arrested.
The Associated Press reports two of his wives told police he had "suicide pills" that the women needed to take "in the event he dies or law enforcement tries to break their family apart."
Chasing Horse allegedly recorded his assaults and trafficked some of his victims to men who would pay for sex.
Some of his wives were reportedly underage when they got married, including a 15-year-old who was allegedly given as a "gift."
KLAS-TV, which also cites court documents, reports another wife told investigators Chasing Horse raped her when she was 9 years old.
Chasing Horse allegedly called himself a "holy man" and "medicine man" and called his female victims "The Circle," which many believed to be a cult.
The Associated Press reports the warrant says, "Nathan Chasing Horse used spiritual traditions and their belief system as a tool to sexually assault young girls on numerous occasions."
On Feb. 1, the Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service in Canada released a statement saying they have been working with the Las Vegas Police Department in their investigation as well as police in Alberta because they believe "there may be other victims that want to come forward."
Chasing Horse is being held in the Clark County Jail without bail.
