BROOKLYN, N.Y. (TCD) -- A 26-year-old man faces a murder charge after his 18-year-old girlfriend and mother of their child was found dead last week.
According to NBC New York, on Friday, May 6, at 10 a.m., New York Police Department officers responded to a call on West 6th Street in the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn.
The victim, 18-year-old Damaris Maravilla, was reportedly found face-up in a bed and pronounced dead at the scene. Maravilla’s boyfriend, Dylan Diaz, was taken into custody.
Diaz reportedly lives at the West 6th Street address and the two have a 6-month-old child.
Court documents cited by NBC New York say Maravilla was allegedly strangled and sexually assaulted, then killed by having her neck snapped. The New York Post, which also cites the criminal complaint, reports Diaz allegedly wrapped his arm around Maravilla’s neck and "squeezed" her until she became unconscious.
The criminal complaint reportedly says Diaz grabbed Maravilla "by the neck, who was still unconscious and snapped" it.
Jail records show Diaz was charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bail.
