ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (TCD) -- Police are searching for a Florida man they say shot and killed his girlfriend while she held their baby.
The St. Petersburg Police Department announced 27-year-old Joana Peca was shot on July 31 at approximately 5:30 p.m. inside her car.
According to a statement, Peca's two young children were inside the vehicle and were "unharmed, but terrified."
One day after identifying Peca as the victim, St. Petersburg Police named Benjamin "Bambi" Williams, 38, as their suspect in the investigation.
Police said Williams and Peca were in a relationship and they had a child together. Peca was reportedly holding their infant when Williams allegedly shot her in the face. Peca's older child was in the back seat at the time of the shooting.
St. Petersburg Police issued a warrant for Williams's arrest and said he is linked to several homicide investigations. Police said he's considered armed and dangerous. A $5,000 reward was offered for information leading to an arrest.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, Williams's arrest record goes back 20 years.
