FORREST COUNTY, Miss. (TCD) -- Investigators arrested a 75-year-old Hattiesburg woman this week on suspicion of killing her husband in 2018.
According to the Forrest County Sheriff's Office, Harriet Howe was arrested Thursday, July 20, and booked into the Forrest County Jail on a murder charge. The Sheriff's Office alleges Howe killed George Howe in April 2018 "at their marital home" in Dixie.
Investigators reportedly never closed the case into George Howe's death and "their resolve to find answers, even after five years, never wavered." Due to technical advancements and a continued investigation, the Forrest County Sheriff's Office found "key evidence" that allegedly links Harriet Howe to the crime.
Forrest County Jail records show Howe's bond was set at $1 million.
The Sheriff's Office did not reveal George Howe's cause of death.
