Tenn. woman accused of fatally stabbing 81-year-old husband during argument over the taste of his coffee

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (TCD) -- A 68-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing her 81-year-old husband to death.
According to a press release from the Memphis Police Department, on April 24 at approximately 8:11 a.m., officers responded to 832 Wrenwood Ave. At the scene, authorities reportedly found the victim, who had suffered multiple stab wounds.
According to the press release, the victim, who police did not identify, was transported to the Regional One Hospital in critical condition. At the hospital, the victim reportedly succumbed to his injuries.
Police told WHBQ-TV that the victim and his wife, Sheila Downey, allegedly got into an argument over the taste of his coffee. The victim reportedly told authorities Downey went to the laundry room and tried to drink bleach to hurt herself. However, the victim allegedly attempted to stop her, and when he did, Downey reportedly grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her husband multiple times.
Downey was reportedly not at the scene when officers arrived, but she later returned and was taken into custody. According to WHBQ, Downey told authorities she went for a drive after the argument and decided to come back.
Downey was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, police say.
Downey was reportedly transported to a hospital to treat the cuts on her hand and was later transported to Jail East. She remains held with no bond, records show.
