HOUSTON (TCD) -- A 35-year-old musician will spend 40 years in prison for beating and torturing his girlfriend, forcing her to give him money and sign over her car title.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office announced Andrew Castillo's sentencing Wednesday, May 31, saying he was convicted earlier in the month of "brutally beating and burning" the victim.
Castillo, who also goes by the name "Sir Freakalot Fresh," and the victim broke up when he was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking and aggravated sexual assault of a child. After he was released on bond, he "lured the victim to the vacant house of a mutual friend" and "ordered another woman to repeatedly physically attack the victim over the course of 13 hours," the District Attorney's Office said.
Castillo also reportedly burned the victim "with a torch lighter until she signed over the title to her Mercedes-Benz sedan."
According to the District Attorney's Office, Castillo threatened the unnamed victim with a gun and ordered her to send him money. He reportedly used the stolen funds to purchase new shoes.
The District Attorney's Office said law enforcement built a case against Castillo with the help of the victim, who handed over a cellphone that Castillo had used.
Castillo will have to serve half of his prison sentence before parole eligibility. The District Attorney's Office said Castillo's remaining charges are pending at this time.
Assistant District Attorney James McKenney called Castillo a "parasite and a master manipulator" who "finds people and uses them for the money."
In a statement, District Attorney Kim Ogg said, "This man preys on women, and when they don’t do what he wants, the violence escalates. We are glad this woman survived her ordeal and got justice."
The victim made an impact statement during the sentencing hearing and addressed Castillo, "You are a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I saw the devil in you on the day of the robbery."
