74-year-old Ohio Amish man accused of rape

ASHLAND, Ohio (TCD) -- A 74-year-old Amish man stands accused of rape.
According to WJW-TV, Joas Swartzentruber of West Salem reportedly assaulted several young victims. The assaults allegedly occurred in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
According to the Ashland Times Gazette, two of the alleged victims were between 13 and 16 years old, and one was younger than 13 when the crimes occurred.
Swartzentruber was indicted on Thursday, Feb. 24, by a grand jury, WJW reports.
According to Ashland County Jail Records, Swartzentruber faces multiple charges including sexual imposition, public indecency/exposing the persons private parts with the purpose of personal sexual arousal or gratification or to lure the minor into sexual activity, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, gross sexual imposition against a victim under 13, statutory rape against a victim under 13, and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Swartzentruber remains held on $250,000 bond, records say.
According to WJW, Swartzentruber is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Feb. 28.
