PHILADELPHIA (TCD) -- A jury convicted a 51-year-old motorcycle gang member this week of killing a 33-year-old several years ago and leaving his body in a crypt.
In a statement, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office said Michael DiMauro was found guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy, abuse of a corpse, and other firearms-related charges in connection with the death of David Rossillo Jr. He will be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
The jury reached the verdict in seven hours.
Rossillo, who was last seen alive in December 2017, reportedly wanted to join the Warlocks, a motorcycle gang DiMauro belonged to. According to the District Attorney’s Office, the two men met at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in southwest Philadelphia "with the assistance of a co-conspirator who served on the cemetery’s nonprofit board." Then, DiMauro shot Rossillo multiple times, "tied a rope around Rossillo’s neck, and then dragged his body to a crypt using a vehicle before prying open the crypt and dropping the body inside."
Two witnesses reportedly corroborated the story.
Rossillo’s body was discovered in the crypt in August 2020 along with the remains of 36-year-old Keith Palumbo. Officials arrested DiMauro in September 2020 along with co-conspirator Michael DeLuca, who pleaded guilty to killing Palumbo. Three other people reportedly pleaded guilty to helping get rid of the bodies.
District Attorney Larry Krasner said, "We are committed to bringing justice in cold cases like this. I believe that these convictions should send a message to any persons who think they can murder others and hide the evidence of their heinous crimes: We will solve these cases and we will bring you to justice."
