BUFORD, Ga. (WGXA) -- Investigators in north Georgia report the parents of a 5-year-old girl are charged with murder and child cruelty after their daughter died from medical neglect.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office confirms 31-year-old Jerrail Maurice Mickens and 29-year-old Porscha Danielle Mickens were arrested at their Braselton home on Tuesday.
They're both charged with felony murder and cruelty to children in the first degree after they brought their unresponsive daughter to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton in June. Deputies say the girl weighed just seven pounds when her parents brought her to the hospital for treatment.
The girl's official cause of death was listed as dehydration and malnutrition due to medical neglect. The manner of her death, investigators said, is homicide.
Jerrail and Porscha Mickens were held without bond at the Hall County Jail.
