MAGOFFIN COUNTY, Ky. (TCN) -- A 39-year-old man is facing charges for allegedly threatening to kill his girlfriend and choking her until she passed out during a fight over Pop-Tarts.
According to WDKY-TV, on Feb. 16, Kentucky State Police troopers went to Appalachian Regional Hospital after receiving information from paramedics that they transported a suspected domestic violence victim there. Troopers made contact with the victim, who said she and her boyfriend, Jeremiah Brown, got into an argument that day regarding Pop-Tarts.
The victim alleged Brown threatened her at knifepoint, threw the knife on the ground, then choked her. Court documents cited by WDKY allege Brown told her, "I’m going to kill you." He reportedly "choked her until she blacked out."
Brown reportedly dragged the victim to the door and threw her out of the house, which injured her right knee. Court documents say the victim had visible wounds on her knee and neck.
Troopers spoke with Brown and he said, "We got into an argument."
WSAZ-TV reports troopers arrested Brown on charges of first-degree strangulation and fourth-degree domestic assault causing minor injury, but he bonded out the next day. A grand jury returned an indictment in June, so he was issued a new warrant for his arrest. Jail records show he is in custody at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
