PHOENIX (TCD) -- A 35-year-old man was arrested after allegedly fatally shooting his 37-year-old girlfriend inside her home.
According to KTVK-TV, on Nov. 30, Phoenix Police officers responded to a home near 67th Avenue and McDowell Road to a report of a woman shot. The victim's child reportedly found an unconscious, bleeding Jamie Bryant after returning home from school.
The victim's father was alerted about the situation and called 911, KTVK reports. Bryant was reportedly pronounced deceased at the home.
The child allegedly told authorities that the victim's boyfriend was Jesse James Moreno, and he was at the home before the child left for school. Investigators learned Moreno would come and go from the residence, according to KTVK.
A few days after Bryant's death, on Dec. 2, police reportedly found out that Moreno was at his sister's house. Police located Moreno, and he was taken into custody, KTVK reports.
Moreno was booked into Maricopa County Jail for one count of homicide, records show.
According to KPNX-TV, a month before his girlfriend's death, Moreno was arraigned on felony drug charges, and he was previously arrested for discharging a gun at a structure but was released in February 2021.
