HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) -- A Haydenville woman has been arrested in the death of her husband.
Gayle Piatt, 64, went to the Hocking County Sheriff's Office Sunday and told deputies she had killed her husband on Thursday, Oct. 15.
Piatt said she shot her 72-year-old husband Homer Piatt with a small-caliber firearm. She said her husband had several health issues for an extended period of time, and that he had asked her to take his life due to his poor quality of life. She told deputies that she attempted to kill herself by overdosing on medication following his death but failed.
Gayle Piatt is charged with murder.
According to the Hocking County Sheriff's Office, deputies went to the Haydenville residence to investigate. At the residence, deputies located a deceased male, and evidence consistent with what Piatt had reported.
