UPDATE Feb. 2, 2018:
Brooke Crews was sentenced on Friday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for her part in the grisly death of a pregnant neighbor, who was killed after her baby was removed from her womb, PEOPLE has confirmed.
Prosecutors said at the sentencing that Crews, 38, admitted she cut LaFontaine-Greywind's infant daughter out of her body after luring the younger woman to her apartment in the building where they both lived, PEOPLE reports.
UPDATE Dec. 11, 2017: A Fargo woman on Monday admitted that she stole the newborn baby of Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind after conspiring to murder the pregnant Native American woman, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Brooke Crews, 38, pleaded guilty to conspiring to murder 22-year-old LaFontaine-Greywind. She also pleaded guilty to kidnapping LaFontaine-Greywind's newborn baby and giving false information to law enforcement, according to documents filed in Cass County District Court.
UPDATE Sept. 28, 2017: WDAY-TV reports Brooke Lynn Crews, one of two suspects charged in connection with the killing of Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind and the abduction of her baby, was arraigned in court on Thursday. Her attorney entered not guilty pleas on her behalf.
Crews, 38, and her live-in boyfriend, William Henry Hoehn, 32, are charged with conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, and providing false information to police. They are each being held at Cass County Jail on $2 million bail, WDAY-TV reports.
Hoehn was set to appear in Cass County District Court on Oct. 4, but has waived his right to appear and entered not guilty pleas, so that court appearance has been canceled, WDAY-TV reports.
UPDATE Aug. 29, 2017: The preliminary cause of Savanna's death was due to homicidal violence, the Fargo Police Dept. announced Tuesday.
"We are unable to release the specific details of Savanna's death, or the manner in which Savanna's baby was born," police said.
FARGO, N.D. -- (KCPQ) -- Authorities in Fargo, North Dakota, have found the body of a missing woman who was eight months pregnant when she disappeared, three days after finding a newborn they believe to be hers.
Fargo Police Chief Dave Todd says the child was discovered as officers carried out a search warrant in the residence of Brooke Lynn Crews, 38, and William Henry Hoehn, 32, whose apartment is in the same building where Greywind lives.
The body of Savanna Greywind, 22, was found in the Red River on Sunday evening, Fargo Police Chief David Todd said during an impromptu news conference near the river that serves as the border between North Dakota and Minnesota.
The body wrapped in plastic was first spotted by kayakers who notified authorities. At the same time, Todd said, a farmstead was being searched and suspicious items were found that led authorities to believe it might be a crime scene.
Todd offered no other details, including whether there were signs of trauma to the body. Deputy Chief Joe Anderson did not immediately respond to requests for comment Monday morning. The body is being sent to the medical examiner in Minnesota's Ramsey County for an autopsy.
