74-year-old former teacher found guilty of sexually assaulting 14-year-old in basement of private school

MONROE COUNTY, Wis. (TCD) -- A 74-year-old former teacher faces over 600 years in prison for repeatedly sexually assaulting an underage student during the 2016-2017 school year.
Monroe County District Attorney Kevin Croninger announced July 31 that a jury convicted Anne Nelson-Koch of 25 sex crimes against a student she sexually assaulted in the basement of a private school. After a three-day trial, the jury deliberated for about five hours before handing down the verdict.
Nelson-Koch was 67 years old at the time of the assaults, and the victim was 14, the Wisconsin State Journal reports.
Assistant District Attorney Sarah Skiles, who prosecuted the case, said in a statement, "The victim of these crimes is an incredibly brave young man." Skiles said the victim "spoke the truth, and the jury heard him loud and clear."
Skiles asked the judge to keep Nelson-Koch in custody without bond until sentencing, but Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Richard Radcliffe released her with GPS monitoring.
Nelson-Koch is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 27.
