OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (TCD) -- A 33-year-old man from Illinois is accused of trying to drown a condominium security guard in a pool.
According to a news release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, March 24, at approximately 10:15 p.m., deputies responded to a condominium property on Santa Rosa Boulevard. At the scene, the Sheriff’s Office learned Seth Beavers, a former naval rescue swimmer, had gone to the pool after hours, but the security guard asked him to leave. Beavers reportedly started a "physical altercation" with the security guard and threatened to drown him.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim told authorities Beavers "rolled him into the pool while holding him against his will, hit him in the head, then pushed him under water, depriving him of oxygen."
The security guard reportedly doesn’t know how to swim but was able to escape for a brief moment. As the victim was trying to get away, Beavers allegedly hit him again, "wrapped his arm around his neck, and pulled him back into the water again, fully submerging his head."
The victim reportedly told authorities he was afraid “he was going to die” during the incident.
The Sheriff’s Office said Beavers was charged with attempted murder and booked into the Okaloosa County Jail without bond.
