PAHRUMP, Nev. (TCD) -- A 53-year-old woman was arrested in Missouri last week after investigators in Nevada found her elderly father’s remains buried in a yard.
According to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office, on Aug. 25, deputies executed a search warrant at a home on Peggy Avenue to look for human remains on the property. Investigators excavated part of the backyard and discovered 95-year-old Bruce Brown’s remains in a "homemade coffin under the ground."
Brown had not been seen or heard from since April, which is when investigators started looking into the case.
Brown’s daughter, Gennice Walker, was taken into custody in Kansas City, Missouri, on a larceny charge. The Nye County Sheriff’s Office said Walker "refused to cooperate" in the investigation, and they executed the search warrant following the arrest in Kansas City. She will be extradited back to Nevada.
Investigators allege Walker continued to cash her father’s Social Security and VA benefits after he died. The Sheriff’s Office said they "received information that she had buried Brown, her father, in the desert."
