Iowa duo arrested for allegedly kidnapping, burning, gagging, and restraining man to chair

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (TCD) -- A man and woman were arrested Sunday for allegedly kidnapping, burning, gagging, and striking a person with blunt objects while being restrained to a chair.
According to a press release from the Cedar Falls Police Department, at around 5:22 a.m., officers responded to a Days Inn after the victim walked inside and said he had been assaulted. The department said the victim reportedly went to 310 Iowa St. in Cedar Falls to meet an acquaintance. Cedar Falls Police said the victim reported being restrained to a chair and was "burned, struck with blunt objects and gagged while being restrained for a lengthy period of time by two subjects who were armed with a handgun."
The victim reportedly suffered several injuries and was being treated at a local hospital.
Cedar Falls Police say 46-year-old James Danielson and 32-year-old Elise Sage live at the 310 Iowa St. address. The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports property records note it is owned by Luke Cagley.
According to the press release from the Cedar Falls Police Department, investigators obtained a search warrant and found "evidence associated with the crime." Danielson and Sage were arrested and charged with first-degree kidnapping. They were booked into Black Hawk County Jail on a $500,000 bond each, according to jail records.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier says Danielson has prior criminal charges dating back to the 1990s.
