BALTIMORE (TCD) -- A 33-year-old woman will spend her life in prison for her role in the kidnapping and killing of a 29-year-old woman who was found naked and bound in a burning home.
WJZ-TV reports Bobie Barncord was sentenced Friday, June 30, to life in prison plus 50 years about two months after she was convicted of first-degree murder, kidnapping, conspiracy to kidnap, and arson. A judge sentenced her co-conspirator, Willard Turner, to life in prison plus 80 years in February 2020.
According to the Baltimore Police Department, on Aug. 21, 2018, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the victim, Tiffany Jones, got into an argument with two men on the 3600 block of Potee Street. The men then forced her into a black Ford pickup truck. The Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office said one of the men, who was known as "Philly" and was later identified as Turner, held Jones at knifepoint. Barncord reportedly drove the getaway car, which was registered to her father.
On Aug. 22, 2018, the Baltimore Fire Department responded to a fire near the Potee Street address and found Jones deceased inside. Investigators executed a search warrant in Barncord’s vehicle and found Jones' shoes in the back floorboard along with a large knife, which had Barncord’s DNA on it.
Barncord told Baltimore Police investigators she helped kidnap Jones and poured lighter fluid on her while someone else lit the fire. She reportedly said she participated in the kidnapping and killing because she thought Jones stole her cellphone.
