CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (TCD) -- A 19-year-old man was arrested earlier this month after he allegedly shot someone during an argument in which the victim refused to give the suspect a Wi-Fi password.
According to a statement, on Sept. 30 at 1:51 p.m., Champaign Police went to the 2100 block of West White Street for a shooting call and located a 22-year-old male suffering a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Paramedics from the Champaign Fire Department transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was in stable condition.
In an Oct. 3 news release, Champaign Police announced they arrested 19-year-old Qwonn Walls on a charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm. Police reportedly determined the two men got into an argument when Walls allegedly "produced a firearm, shooting the victim in the leg before fleeing the scene."
Champaign Police said the victim, who remained unnamed, was released from the hospital.
According to the police report cited by the News-Gazette, Walls and the victim allegedly got into a disagreement because the victim refused to give Walls a Wi-Fi password. The exchange then turned physical when Walls allegedly brandished the gun and shot the victim.
The victim reportedly went back into his apartment after getting shot in the leg, but when he opened the door a little while later, Walls allegedly fired again, hitting him in the right thigh.
Champaign County Jail records show Walls' bond was set at $250,000.
