Atlanta UPS driver kidnapped at gunpoint and tied up; suspects reportedly stole packages

ATLANTA (TCD) -- A group of thieves reportedly kidnapped a UPS driver at gunpoint, forced him to drive to a facility, tied him up, and stole packages from the victim’s truck on Tuesday, Dec. 28.
According to a press release from the Atlanta Police Department, at approximately 9:15 a.m., officers responded to the area near Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway Northwest and Bankhead Court Northwest for a possible kidnapping. On the scene, officers reportedly located the victim, a UPS driver, along with other UPS employees.
The victim had been reportedly driving a UPS tractor-trailer, and was stopped at a traffic light at approximately 3:30 a.m. when an armed suspect got into the vehicle and forced the victim to drive to Bankhead Court. Police say the victim followed the suspect’s orders. Once they arrived, other suspects allegedly tied the UPS driver up and stole cargo from the UPS vehicle.
The company reportedly tracked down the truck after it had been reported overdue. Police responded and located the victim uninjured in the trailer of the truck around 9:15 a.m.
Police told WSB-TV that they are analyzing surveillance videos to gather details on possible suspects.
