NEW ORLEANS (TCD) -- A 25-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly fatally stabbing a mother of four while they were on a date and trying to steal her car.
According to The Acadiana Advocate, on Saturday, April 27, at around 2:30 p.m., Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a stabbing call in Hammond and found 31-year-old Carol Allen injured in the back seat of a car. Paramedics took her to nearby hospital, where she later died from her stabbing injuries.
Tangipahoa Parish investigators identified Christopher Wilson as the suspect and said he was wanted for murder.
Then, on May 1, at 6:07 p.m., the Natchitoches Parish dispatch center received a call from a bicyclist with a flat tire on the interstate who wanted some help. A Natchitoches Parish lieutenant arrived and identified the bicyclist as Wilson. The lieutenant put the bike in his patrol truck and asked Wilson if he could search him and his backpack "for officer safety." Wilson told him he "had a small amount of marijuana" with him, which the lieutenant located. Wilson also reportedly had additional marijuana and a scale in his backpack.
Wilson was arrested in Natchitoches Parish for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an outstanding warrant for domestic abuse battery out of Tangipahoa Parish. He was transferred to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail, where he is being held on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery with a knife.
Tangipahoa Parish Chief of Operations Jimmy Travis told WWL-TV Allen and Wilson "had a struggle and she was stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife."
Allen was the one who called 911 to report the stabbing, but she "quit responding" while on the phone with dispatchers who were trying to pin down her exact location.
Wilson was arrested in 2016 for armed robbery and convicted two years later for attempted armed robbery, which was a reduced charge. He spent five years in the Louisiana Department of Corrections.
One of Allen's relatives told WAFB-TV, "She was looking for love. Maybe she was looking for it in the wrong places sometimes. That’s not the type of person she was, and that man took away the chance of me getting to know her better."
