MODESTO, Calif. (TCD) -- A 40-year-old man was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of killing a missing Central California woman.
According to the Modesto Police Department, 46-year-old Rita Solis was reported missing on Jan. 13 after her family had not seen or heard from her since Jan. 7. On April 3, Modesto Police announced Solis' body was discovered Feb. 14 in a remote area of Vernalis. Her cause of death was not released.
During the investigation, the Modesto Police Department worked alongside the Ceres Police Department, Department of Justice, and the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office, and identified Scott Allen Tackett as a suspect. He was re-arrested Friday, March 31, for murder and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail.
At the time of his arrest, police said Tackett was already in custody for two separate cases out of Ceres, California. Jail records show he is also facing several sex crime-related charges, including rape and sodomy.
Police did not specify the victim's relationship to the suspect.
