JEFFERSON W.Va. (TCD) -- A 31-year-old man is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend with a screwdriver during an argument about his belongings.
A Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the 200 block of 1st Street Southeast to a report of a domestic disturbance on Saturday, Feb. 11, at approximately 6:45 p.m., the department said in a statement. The responding deputy reportedly found the suspect, Eric Duncan, walking on Green Valley Drive nearby.
During the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office learned Duncan went to his ex-girlfriend’s home to gather his personal belongings, but she allegedly didn’t have them, and the two got into an argument. The dispute reportedly escalated, and Duncan taunted the victim "by making quick flinching movements as if he was going to assault her."
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the victim said her ex slapped her and then left. Duncan allegedly came back to his ex-girlfriend’s home and asked for his belongings again before stabbing her with a screwdriver.
The Sheriff’s Office said the victim suffered a laceration to her leg that didn’t require medical treatment, and "she was seen limping as she walked."
Another witness at the scene reportedly confirmed the victim’s statements, and Duncan was arrested on a count of domestic battery with a weapon.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Duncan was arraigned, and his bond was set at $1,000 cash.
