VILLE PLATTE, La. (TCD) -- An 85-year-old woman was hospitalized this week after her 20-year-old granddaughter allegedly beat her with several objects and vandalized her home following an argument.
According to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, on Tuesday, April 4, deputies went to a home on the 500 block of Wyble Road after receiving a call about an elderly woman suffering from several injuries. She was transported to the ICU in critical but stable condition.
Investigators learned Cecilia Ann Lee went to her grandmother’s house on the night of April 4 and the two women got into an argument, which turned physical. The Sheriff’s Office alleges Lee "struck the victim multiple times in her head, torso, arms, and hands with a heavy-duty wooden back scratcher and picture frame."
After that, Lee allegedly damaged her grandmother’s phone in order to prevent her from calling for help and vandalized the home. Lee then fell asleep on a couch.
Deputies arrested Lee on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery of the infirm, cruelty to the infirm, false imprisonment, and criminal damage to property. Her bond is set at $1,067,500
